Damn…can’t we find better ways to spend taxpayer dollars? While I can follow and maybe even support the argument that we need to bailout banks to prevent a cascading effect that shuts down the entire economy (although I could also argue that the bailout didn’t achieve the desired impact), bailing out automakers seems ridiculous. I understand that 2 million jobs are at risk and there is an entire supply chain made up of small and medium sized businesses that would suffer if the industry were to collapse, but at some point we need to stop the madness. Businesses that do not have viable businesses models need to fail, restructure, or otherwise adapt to this reality. Throwing out a three month lifeline to delay the inevitable is a waste of time and money.

Hated the bank bailout. DETEST the auto maker bailout. What happened to Free Enterprise economics?
