Anchor and Hope

July 19th, 2009 · No Comments

Last night we had a fabulous meal at one of our favorite gastropubs in London - the Anchor and Hope. From the outside, this place looks like a pretty standard London pub, but one glance at the menu reveals a totally different experience. Melisse started with the deep fried pig’s tail (they had just run out of the deep fried rabbit arm’s), while Alistair and I each got the lobster soup and Helen tried the crab on toast. We joked ahead of time about the pig’s tail and if itl would come out curly…as it turns out, it does. We followed up the starters with the 7-hour roasted lamb shoulder which was absolutely delicious, both tender and full of flavor. It was served with a couscous salad that included cucumber and roasted tomatoes and a couple of additional sides that we had chosen from the menu. The wine list was complete and we were able to find a couple of bottles of red to accompany the meal before we finished it all off with some pudding and after dinner drinks. The atmosphere was very nice and the service was friendly.
