Boulder to London

It is only a matter of time…

I should update my life insurance now as I give myself 6 months tops before I’m struck by a car, bike or bus walking around London.  The rules here are quite a bit different from what I was used to in the states.  I believe pedestrians in London have the right-of-way in rare situations where there isn’t another soul on the road.  This has come as quite a shock coming from Boulder where pedestrians and bikes had first right of refusal to the road, crosswalk or not.  To add to my troubles, cars come from the side that I’m not used to so I’m constantly looking the wrong was to avoid trouble.  The signs painted on the road “look left” or “look right” don’t seem to help when I’m out for a run and trying to time the gap in traffic perfectly to avoid breaking stride.  The good news is that the cars, while small, drive pretty fast through neighborhoods and don’t seem to slow down when pedestrians are near…I should go quickly without much pain.
