After two weeks of searching and negotiating, Melisse finally found us a place to live. Our offer was accepted on Friday of last week, and we were able to move in this past Thursday. The place is incredible! It’s a nice 1 bedroom flat in a beautiful neighborhood in SW London. My commute to work is about 30 min, but we are very close to restaurants, pubs, grocery stores, a great outdoor market and two beautiful parks.
Similar to everything else we’ve experienced, the process was not very straight forward. It involved relocation people, letting agents, a landlord, an inventory clerk and several hours of discussion, waiting and negotiation. To make matters worse, our relocation company seemed to have something against sharing information with us. We’ve learned a lot through the process and will hopefully not have to do it again anytime soon.
Work has started to pick up. I actually get to go out on a project on Monday! I’m pretty excited to go, but we have a couple hour train ride to get there and I need to leave my house around 5:45 on Monday AM. Given my experience thus far with new modes of transporation, I’m a little wary of the journey.
I should be able to put more frequent updates up when we get our internet installed. I have to call today to get it ordered and then I guess they just mail me the modem/router. Until then, I’ll keep things updated the best I can and work to get some pictures up of the new flat!
Melisse is off to Spain for two weeks to catch up with Maggie and Carmela. I’m guessing they’ll have a great time and hopefully the weather will hold up for a few days on the beach!
