House hunting part deux

Our final week back in the states was “brilliant” as they say over here.  We’d like to send thanks to Shannon for hosting a wonderful send off at her place, Maggie, HJ and brother Jim for putting us up for the week and everyone else that stopped by, met us for drinks, had us over to dinner or otherwise offered to help out as we packed up our lives moved across the pond.

Our second trip over was much more comfortable than the first thanks to a non-stop flight and a couple of upgrade certificates from Kyle.  After a minor mechanical delay, the plane left a few hours late.  We still landed in plenty of time to make it to our temporary accommodations and meet my classmate M.E. for drinks and dinner.  We’ve already met some great people including a Ft. Collins native that went to high school with M.E. and has lived in London for several years.  We enjoyed a long night of sleep and woke in time to grab some lunch before we met with Dom to view properties.  We saw another 15 or 20 properties and actually found a couple that we like.  We put another offer in, but unfortunately the landlord is out of the country so it may take a few days to get it straightened out.  Keep your fingers crossed…we really liked the place and already lost two places on our last trip.  The temporary housing is nice, but we’d really like to get into something more permanent.  We’ll probably have to move at least one more time since the place we’re in is only booked for a week and we’re not sure if this unit is available if we have to stay. Since we’ve been living out of suitcases for the past 7 weeks, we’re looking forward to having a place to unpack and make our own.

Other than that, I’m looking forward to starting work on Monday.  I have two days of orientation before the release me to the team.  I’m very excited to start work again and will hopefully be put on a project soon.  Melisse will have another month or two off before art school starts so she will have plenty of time to explore and get things set up.  We already miss all of our friends and family back in the states and hope that everyone comes to visit soon.
